Biotech Startup Expands UniPen Access Through New Pharmacist Partnership

Love Lifesciences has entered a strategic partnership with the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding (APC) to expand the reach of its flagship product, the UniPen, a safe, self-administered injection medication delivery system. The Overland Park biotech startup aims to leverage this partnership to connect with innovation-focused companies and enhance patient care by promoting UniPen to APC’s network of over 200 member pharmacies.

UniPen is designed for a wide range of self-administered injectable therapies, including popular treatments like GLP-1 agonists, testosterone, and other injectables commonly offered by compounding pharmacies. Love Lifesciences will provide APC member pharmacies access to UniPen at competitive pricing. Nick Love, CEO and co-founder of Love Lifesciences, emphasized that APC’s support reflects the compounding pharmacy industry’s movement toward integrating innovations that improve patient care.

The UniPen’s therapeutic agnostic delivery system enables it to address various treatment needs, making it appealing to compounding pharmacies. Love noted that without UniPen’s versatility, pharmacies would face limitations in product application across therapeutic lines. The device allows pharmacies to choose which therapeutic lines to integrate, including Testosterone, GLP-1s, Hormone Replacement Therapies, and injectable blood thinners, without incurring redevelopment costs or timelines. This flexibility enables pharmacies to accommodate individual patient dosing requirements, providing a competitive advantage in various therapeutic markets while enhancing the injection experience and customization options for patients.

Designed with patient safety and ease of use in mind, UniPen offers pre-set medication dosing and anti-needlestick features, enhancing its value. Love stated, “UniPen was designed to improve the patient injection experience,” aiming to boost adherence and patient outcomes while empowering individuals to take control of their health. The partnership with APC highlights the commitment of APC and its member pharmacies to patient-centric care.

Recognized as one of Startland News’ 10 Kansas City Startups to Watch in 2024, Love Lifesciences recently received a regional Business Innovation award from the Kansas Department of Commerce at the agency’s “To The Stars: Kansas Business Awards” ceremony on October 3. Lt. Gov. David Toland praised the nominees for their critical roles in driving business investment and economic growth in Kansas, celebrating their contributions to the state’s success.
